   We have three of these phones (a main base plus two additional bases) – well, we SORT OF have three – more on this later. The sound quality is good, and the features (directory, review of recent calls, etc) are easy to use.

   The phone does have some serious design flaws, however. For one, volume control for the ringer is right on the side where you hold the phone during normal use, and it’s very easy to press the flat toggle-style volume control.

   As a result, we routinely turn the ring volume off without even realizing it. No big deal, if you always return the phone to its base immediately. BIG deal if you are a wanderer while you talk, or have children who put the phone down in some messy corner. This is why we TECHNICALLY have three phones, but really only have two. We can’t find one, and since the volume was (once again) turned all the way off by accident, we can’t make it ring to help in our search. It also appears that sometimes the ring volume is muted when you signal the phone remotely from the base and then hit the “stop talk” button to get it to stop ringing. Again – bad design that leads to frustration when your phone ceases to ring.

   Overall, it’s a decent system, if pricey, and you will have to decide if the ring volume issue would be a problem in your house.

   I am a believer in Consumers Reports review of almost all things mechanical,electrical and electronic. We were using the same cordless phones for a decade and the quality was not great. I saw the review in the above magazine (these were the number 1 rated cordless phones) and ordered them from Amazon.com. as that was the only place I could find these cordless phones. All the other locations only had the previous and not upgraded phones The price was very competitive and we received “free shipment” and that took five days. We bought at one time 4 of these phones with a base station with a hard-line only and the others just need a power supply, we are very pleased with cordless phones.

   I have the DECT system with 4 hand units. I needed a 5th. This set up in 5 minutes. The sound quality is great. It is one of the few cordless phones that includes all of the features I need: Mute, speakerphone, earjack AND great sound quality.

   We’ve owned these phones for a year or so…and they are the BEST we’ve had!! We are very hard on phones…always droppin them or getting them wet. We have been through a lot of handsets in the past few years…and these are the BEST by far!! They allow us to walk all around our property (and even down the block a lil way) before a little static can be heard. Most other phones had a lot of static in our own back yard! We have the main handset w/the answering machince base..and we’ve bought a couple of the expansion handsets. The phone is very easy to use/figure out. It has a book to walk you through the setup…but we didn’t even use it. It also has several different rings to choose from, and a speakerphone button that works quite clearly. We HIGHLY recommend these phones!!

   Nice phone, nice features. Compact and easy to use, we’d recommend it for any home use.
