   They won’t play likely because you’re missing a codec (something that tells the program how to decompress the video).

   You can download an extensive codec pack here:
   http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm

   And the video should then play in Windows Media Player.

   Vlc media player will be the answer. Google for VLC media player and download it.

   you could also try converting the format using this free program, veteora.

   VLC media player ( and it does a whole lot more. )

   Free, full version no crippled features. ie it is “soundware” as opposed to the usual windows “crippleware”.
