Power to the People and the Beats: Public Enemy’s Greatest Hits

Public Enemy is not the kind of group that does compromise–either you own It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back and its explosive follow-up Fear of a Black Planet in their entirety or you simply hate music. So use this all-too-brief primer merely as a map to find your way to the albums that actually shook the world, mixing blunt politics with hard-hitting beats and Chuck D’s prophet-like zeal for affecting change. If nothing else, tracks like “Bring The Noise” and “… More >>

Power to the People and the Beats: Public Enemy’s Greatest Hits

This group is nothing more but a stupid and idiotic geek show that makes no effort to entertain their audience. These songs are stupid and idioctic rants over a beat about corporations, cops, and the “system”. Who ever said that these were the Rolling Stones of rap should be stabbed the face with a knife. That title belongs to NWA who fortunitely killed this garbage off. Their newest “New Whirl Order” album is also nothing more than a cash in on the recent political climate and nothing more. I’m glad to see that rap has gotten more commercial and less political. The state of the music industry makes me sick because instead of making records, these artists are more concerned about fighting for a bunch of lost and idioctic causes. Avoid this along with any other Public Enemy album because this political preaching non-sense, along with the hip-pop(Nelly, Chingy, Bow Wow, Jermaine Durpri ect.), fake thug R&B and watered down crunk are the worst things to happen to rap and music in general. This won’t be on my worst albums of the year list because I don’t count greatest hits but their new album will be.

THESE SONG’S WERE FRESH,NEW,AND EXCITING BACK IN THE LATE 80′S AND EARLY 90′S.
BUT NOW 15 PLUS YEARS LATER THEY SOUND BOREING AND OUT OF PLACE IN 2005.COMPARED TO THE HITS OF TODAY.
IT IS STILL COOL TO LISTEN TO THESE SONG’S FROM TIME TO TIME IN THE OLD CD PLAYER.AND IT IS COOL WHEN THEY PLAY THESE SONG’S ON THE RADIO.BUT WHEN THEY DO PLAY THEM ON THE RADIO THEY SAY
“HERE IS ANOTHER SONG FROM BACK IN THE DAY”.AND IT MAY BE ANOTHER FEW WEEK’S BEFORE THEY PLAY SOMETHING FROM PUBLIC ENEMY AGAIN.
FOR SOME REASON WHEN I THINK OR HEAR STUFF FROM PUBLIC ENEMY.
IT MAKES ME THINK OF THE 80′S.AND THAT MAY BE THE REASON I DON’T LIKE IT ANYMORE.OR IT SOUNDS BORING AND OUT OF PLACE. BUT IN THE LATE 80′S PUBLIC ENEMY WAS THE MUSIC TO HAVE POUNDING OUT OF YOUR SPEAKERS! (SYRACUSE,NEW YORK)

I love the song “fight the power” witch was the best back in 1989 off of the soundtrack movie “Do the Right Thing”. Chuck D and Flava Fav both raping at the same time on that song “it takes a nationof millions to hold us back”. Public Enemy along with DWA were the first rappers to say curses words in their ablums.
