What a great idea to make this adventure in a broken down theme park…with an old carousel, how cool is that? I love the back-stories in the Nancy Drew games, you always come out learning something and having fun.

I am an adult who really enjoys playing the Nancy Drew computer games. Not only are they wonderful for young girls (and adults like me), but they always present compelling stories with clever puzzles. The Haunted Carousel is no different. This is quite possibly the most tightly-plotted of all the Nancy Drew games I’ve played so far, and yet the fact that it is so tightly-plotted is its only downfall, because the mystery is over very, very quickly! I sat down to play this game one evening, and four hours later, I had beaten it! It usually takes me several days to finish a Nancy Drew game, and I often find myself having to look up hints for some of the more challenging puzzles. This game is much more linear and the puzzles more obvious, which is not a bad thing. It was nice to feel in control of the puzzles and challenges, and the storyline was very engaging. The addition of a “To Do” list on Nancy’s computer was immensely helpful, as it prevented a lot of wandering around, trying to figure out what needed to be done. I would recommend this game to anyone (male or female, young or old) who enjoys a good adventure and fun mystery!

I’m a baby boomer in my second childhood (I think). This, like all the ND games, is way cool, terrific characters, hard challenges (I regularly cheat), beautiful settings, information to learn (read the history of carousel horses in this one). However, it takes a child’s dexterity to get past the barnacle game!! Would also recommend the Scarlet Hand one about the Maya. As an anthropologist, it was fascinating to see how much you can learn about another society and have loads of fun doing so.
Highly recommend the Nancy Drew series for anyone!
