This video was informative. The movement of the camera while the video was being taped made me dizzy watching it.The movement continued through the lenght of the dvd. If the camera was on a tripod and just zoomed in and out a little it would of been much better.THE LEATHER BOUND BOOK DVD BOOKBINDING WITH PETER GOODWIN

While I think this book is a great introduction to binding a leather book, it lacks in some information that would be helpful at times. Just small tidbits, nothing major.
The only thing that drove me insane when watching the $1.99 rental was the fact that they include this stupid harp music at random and it is REALLY annoying. It’s one of those things where I’d rather hear dead silence than listen to the music and I’m a huge fan of music, just not what seems to be scales on harp, like “heavenly” music. Blah.

Wonderful video for the beginner (like me). Accomplished binders might get a different approach to some aspects. Mr. Goodwin’s wit and charm leads the viewer through every step, from sewing on cords to gold tooling. Because of the scope of what is covered there are some details that are not fully developed. Don’t forget, it’s only about 1.5 hours not a two-week course! Beginners should buy this and watch it several times. I think experienced bookbinders could thoroughly enjoy this and get some tips, but would be better served by renting/viewing it online. Janette Heffernan does the solid video work and knows when to zoom in for a close-up. I enjoyed their funny banter. She might want to consider using a chest-mounted tripod for stability. Nice job overall!
