Still waiting for refund for the item I bought on the 1st of June for my sons graduation….
Rating: 1 / 5
I was really annoyed when I received this item and returned it right away. There are so many good headphones on the market… don’t waste your time on these. They are crappy.

I bought these things thinking that they’re a lot cheaper than the Bose but they’re still a name brand and they’re not super cheap so there must be some quality to them. Forget about it! Calling them noise cancelling is really nothing more than false advertising!!! First of all, the sound quality itself is pretty bad. Poor dynamic range and really not very clear. And then I tried them on a plane. I was really exciting, having never owned a noise cancelling set before. What a disappointment! I could clearly still hear all the engine noises. All the set did was turn up the volume louder!!! Absolutely do NOT waste your money on these.

I purchased these headphones because I was looking for some moderately nice-sounding, punchy phones that I could wear on the Metro and while I did schoolwork. If it makes a difference to anyone, I primarily used them with my Nokia N95, a music phone. I will try to briefly address the main issues in normal English.
EAR FIT
Though I am a fan of the behind-the-head design, these headphones are mercilessly uncomfortable. The rubber “clips” are difficult to fit over the ear, and when they finally do fit, one can’t help but want to immediately take them off. I tried adjusting; I tried to leave them alone for a while; nothing worked.

SOUND
The hiss, though subtle at times, is terrible when listening to mellow music, or music with a lot of silence. The noise cancelling switch does lend a little fortitude to the overall volume, but also serves to worsen this problem. Turning a deaf ear to the hiss, the sound is not too bad, but I would certainly have hoped for more “punch” and less sound leakage. I primarily purchased these because I thought, being a closed-design, they would hold more sound than my Philips HS520’s, but they certainly did not. In fact, sound-wise, they compare unfavorably in every respect with the HS520’s.

EXTRAS
The only other factor in my discontent is the extraordinarily awkward and puzzling noise-cancelling unit. About the size of a cigar and ensnared by two cords and a belt clip, this little marvel could not be more inconvenient or strange. After 10 minutes walking around the house with three cords draped about me and a cigar pressed into my ribs, I had to face the facts. I took off these monstrocities and put my HS520’s back on.
RATING: 1.5 out of 5
I should probably mention that I am life-long musician, and I have had my head in BIG studio headphones for a long time. This has no bearing on my opinion, though, as I only compare these headhpones with other similarly-priced [actually, cheapear] phones.
BOTTOM LINE: Too expensive. Pass on these . . . keep looking. [I will stick with my HS520's until I get the nerve to buy headhpones again, at which point I will probably upgrade to the HS820's.]

There are enough reviews about these headphones addressing their sound quality or lack thereof.
Why I hate these headphones is because of they are “Behind-The-Head.” I bought these primarily to use on a plane. Like most people, I like to put my seat back and rest my head on the headrest. Only you can’t with these headphones because you will be laying right on the headset’s headband. Even when you are sitting up, they have a hard time staying in place. The headband is too short and not adjustable so you can’t put the headband over the top of your head like normal headphones even if you wanted to.
I really can’t imagine what Philips was thinking. Headphones have been “Over the Head” for over a hundred years without anyone thinking that they had to change something so tried and true. When I bought these, I didn’t know that there was such a thing as “Behind the Head” so I didn’t realize what I was getting. Fortunately, I only paid $2.00 for them at a local liquidator so I don’t feel so bad.
Even a one star rating is far too generous for these headphones.
